5 REASONS TO HAVE ENGAGEMENT SESSION
ARE YOU IN OR OUT?
Today we want to tell you something,
We have worked with many incredible couples to capture their engagement and wedding day photographs, and the most common concern that comes up during our first consultation is that the couple is either not comfortable in front of the camera or they’ve never gotten their photographs to take professionally before.
Fernando and I had the same concerns whenever we were talking about getting professional photographs taken together. Even though we know how to take the photograph and make the person look incredible, the truth is, we did not know how to do this for ourselves when being in front of the camera.
One of the first things we like to suggest to our couples is to book their engagement session! The engagement session can sometimes be overlooked since you’re so focused on your wedding day, but trust us – you’re going to want to hop on the engagement photo train!
This is why we decided to share the top 5 reasons to have an engagement session with your wedding photographer.
1. BUILDING A CONNECTION WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
We like to start your wedding experience with an engagement session because we sincerely believe that it’s an important part of the whole process.
Your wedding photographer is much more than just a camera or lens! He or she is a person who will be with you for hours on your wedding day and It is extremely important to feel 100% comfortable with your photographer. Building a connection with your photographer will give you comfort and confidence on your wedding day and that is one less thing to worry about. That way, when we are photographing a wedding, we have previously established such a great relationship with the couple and we are there joyfully capturing intimate moments and special details on one of the most significant days of their life.
Let’s face it, If for some reason you are not comfortable, this will be very evident in your photographs.
An engagement session allows you to spend productive time with us. So you can get to know us, experience how we shoot and how we handle all the details that go into capturing your day!.
2. GROW MORE COMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF A CAMERA
We always take selfies on our phones all the time and we know how to look good for those photographs. But, If you’re one of those people who goes awkward in front of the lens, don’t fear! That’s why the engagement session is a great way to release any nerves that you may have and get comfy so that the posing feels natural. You’ll be amazed!.
At your engagement session, we will learn how you guys interact, what you like and what you don’t like! Your wedding day will flow so much smoother if you have that figured out beforehand. After all, practice makes perfect! If you don’t want to spend the first half of your wedding portraits learning how to relax in front of the camera, then an engagement session is for you!.
3. PRINT. SAVE THE DATE. GUEST BOOK
It’s important to realize that you don’t need to have only pictures of the wedding day printed or hung around your home.
Having your engagement photos printed on high-end products is such an amazing experience. Personally, we have photos of us hanging in our home and it brings back very special memories. We offer to Save the date cards, thank you cards, a guest book with lots of space for though triggers… all of these are important aspects of your wedding planning process that will benefit so much from gorgeous engagement photos!.
4. CAPTURE THE FLEETING TIME YOU ARE ENGAGED!
Being engaged is a time of transition shifting from a dating couple to a married one. It’s such a happy, exciting time, but it won’t last forever. Having engagement pictures taken can be an incredible way to preserve memories of this brief period so that you can look back on them for so many years.
5. MAKE IT A DATE NIGHT!
Sometimes when you’re in wedding planning mode the last thing on your mind is making a special time for you and your loved one! That’s why we always encourage our couples to have fun during and after their engagement session to remember what their special day is truly about and enjoy their time together.
If you are having a sunrise session, enjoy a yummy breakfast or if is on sunset, remember to make a reservation to your favorite restaurant to go to after your engagement session.
Are you convinced? We hope so!.
